# About AISL

**Accountable Intelligent Systems Lab (AISL)** is part of the **Centre for Business Artificial Intelligence (CBAI)** at the **FHNW School of Business**. It researches human-centered dialogue, agentic, and hybrid AI systems, with a particular focus on accountability at the socio-technical system level.

AISL combines machine learning, generative AI, and knowledge engineering to study intelligent systems that are more reliable, verifiable, and controllable, particularly in sensitive and safety-critical settings.

## AISL Docs and the toolstack

AISL Docs provides a **public, practical view of selected tools and services** used around AISL teaching, research, prototyping, and project work. It is intended for FHNW users as well as collaborators and potential partners who want to understand the environments and technologies we work with.

The documentation intentionally focuses on **user-facing applications, learning resources, public artifacts, and selected external services** rather than internal administration or infrastructure details.

**Documentation approach:** Most AISL Docs content is created through AI-assisted and agentic workflows based on precise expert instructions and human review. This approach helps us document a broad and fast-moving tool landscape. It can still contain errors or become outdated, especially where external providers change products, quotas, pricing, or terms.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.aisl.science/about-aisl.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
